A movie crew was shooting on location.
Lennie: You'll never guess what was going on in our town last week.
Freda: Go on, surprise me.
Lennie: A movie crew was shooting on location in the town square.
Freda: Really? Why did they choose your town?
Lennie: Because the square's full of old buildings which were a perfect background for the kind of historical movie they were making.
Freda: I'd love to have been there. I've never seen a movie crew in action before.
That is a perfect location for a hotel(那是兴建旅馆最理想的地方)。
(1) The pub provided a good location for the gunfight scenes(那酒馆是拍摄枪战场面的好地方)。
(2) The movie was shot in two different locations: Hong Kong and Tokyo / The movie was shot on location in Taipei and Tokyo(那部电影在香港、东京两地拍摄外景)。
More than half of the location scenes were shot in New York(外景场面有半数以上是在纽约拍摄的)。
至于在电影摄影棚拍摄,英文是to be shot/made/filmed in the studio. Picasso's studio was frequented by the rich(毕加索的画室常有富豪来访)。
Movie/film studio则是电影摄影棚,We visited a movie studio during the summer vacation即'我们暑假期间去参观一家电影制片厂'.
(1) The Walt Disney Studios has made a romantic movie recently(狄斯耐电影公司最近拍了一部浪漫电影)。
(2) The movie was filmed almost entirely in the studio(这部电影几乎全在电影厂里拍摄)。 [NextPage] I had to rely on the subtitles.
Carl: I've just seen the latest movie from China.
Vera: Good?
Carl: Oh yes. It was about a family who lived in the late Qing dynasty.
Vera: I know you're learning Chinese. Did you understand everything?
Carl: No, not really. They spoke too fast for me to catch much, so I had to rely on the subtitles.
Vera: Yes, they're always very helpful when you're watching a foreign-language movie.
I had to rely on the subtitles.
I had to depend on the subtitles.' You can rely/depend on him to do a good job(你可以放心,他一定会把工作做好)。
I may buy the antique Chinese vase, but it depends on the price(我或许会买下那个古董中国花瓶,但要看价钱)。 Whether or not you will succeed depends (on) how hard you work(你能不能成功,须看你有多努力)。 (1) A baby is entirely dependent on its parents(婴儿完全依靠父母)。(2) How many dependents/dependants do you have?(你有多少亲属须照顾?)
