My feet are killing me!
Marie: You look a bit tired. What have you been doing?
Yvonne: Shopping for some new outfits.
Marie: Did you get what you want?
Yvonne: I did, but it took me all day.
Marie: What do you want to do now?
Yvonne: I just want to sit down somewhere and relax. My feet are killing me!
My feet are killing me. My feet are sore from all the walking(我走了那么多路,双脚酸痛)。 (You have got athlete's foot)等,你都可以说:My feet are killing me. My shoulders are killing me、My back is killing me等。 Are your feet killing you? Our massager can stop the murder(尊足是否正在取阁下性命? You look a bit tired.这a bit可不可以改为a little?Bit是'小片'或'少许',例如a bit of ice cream是'少许冰淇淋'.A bit之后接tired之类形容词(adjective),则是作副词(adverb)用,和a little没有分别,I am a bit/a little angry即'我有点愤怒'.但请留意:not a bit和not a little意思完全不同。Not a bit是'一点也不',not a little则是'不只有一点',也即'十分'.所以,I am not a bit tired/surprised是'我一点都不疲倦/不惊讶',I am not a little tired/surprised则是'我疲倦/惊讶得很',两个说法切勿混淆。[NextPage] What do you think of my new suit?
Terry: What do you think of my new suit?
Michae: Not bad. I like the wide lapels and the pant cuffs. It reminds me of
one I saw in the department store the other day. Did you get it there?
Terry: No, I got it at that new outfitters on the main street.
Michael: How much did it cost?
Terry: $350.
Michael: What? You could have got the one from the department store for $200. You've been ripped off!
What do you think of my new suit? What do you think of/about his proposal?(你认为他的建议怎样?)不过,think high/a lot/a great deal of(认为很好)、think badly/ill of(认为不好)等的of却不可改为about,例如:Don't think ill of him just because he was late last time(不要因为他上次迟到,就对他产生坏印象)。 I like the wide lapels and the pant cuffs. Tuck your turn-ups/cuffs into your socks to prevent mosquito bites(把裤脚反折处塞进袜子里,以防被蚊叮)。 Coats with narrow lapels are coming back into fashion即'窄翻领的外衣,又开始流行了'.Rip off是'敲竹杠',这个词拙栏从前谈过,不必赘言;值得一谈的,是main street. There are several international banks on/in the main/high street(大街上有几家国际银行)。
