Philip: Of course, what a game! Three goals each.
Larry: Who do you support?
Philip: Real Madrid, because I'm a Beckham fan.
Larry: Barcelona should have won it with that great shot on goal in the last minute.
Philip: Only they didn't because the Real goalie made a fantastic save.
赖利：你昨天有没有看电视转播的巴塞隆纳对皇家马德里球赛？
菲利普：当然有，真精采！双方各进三球。
赖利：你支持哪一方？
菲利普：皇家马德里，因为我是贝克汉迷。
赖利：巴塞隆纳最后一分钟射门，非常精采，应可取胜。

足球比赛的守门员，英文叫goaltender或goalkeeper，往往简称为keeper，俚语则称为goalie.He has played as goalie for our team for two years即'他做我们球队的守门员已有两年'.
守门员必须懂得救球。'救球'叫做save，作动词或名词都可以，例如：（1） I saved three shots, and thus enabled our team to win a 5-0 victory over Greece（我救了三球，使我们球队以五比○击败希腊队）。（2） He made/pulled off/brought off a diving save（他扑前救了一球）。Pull off、bring off都有'完成（某事）'的意思，例如：He eventually pulled off/brought off the deal to everyone's satisfaction（他终于做成了那宗交易，令大家都觉满意）。Diving save的dive，本来指'跳水'，引申其义，守门员扑前救球，也叫dive，例如：He dived for/made a dive for the ball, and caught it（他纵身扑球，接在手里）。
守门员失守，则叫做miss the ball，例如：The goalie was distracted and missed the ball（守门员分了心，没有把球挡往）。守门员没有把球接稳，则叫做drop a ball，例如：Their goalie dropped the ball, and our team scored another goal（他们的守门员没有把球接稳，我们球队于是又得一分）。Drop the ball还可引伸解作'犯错'，例如：In handling this matter, I took care not to drop the ball（我处理这件事，小心翼翼，以防犯错）。 [NextPage] My sister started a new hobby a few months ago.

辛迪说姐姐月前开始有新的嗜好：She started a new hobby a few months ago.有新嗜好，也可以说是to take up a hobby，例如：He has taken up philately （=stamp collecting） as a new hobby（他最近开始嗜好集邮）。Hobby古英语解作'小马'.现在小孩子骑的马头杆或摇动木马（rocking horse）叫hobbyhorse，就是取'小马'的意思。从事某种嗜好，好比孩子之骑玩具马，所以hobby的意思后来就变成'嗜好'.辛迪的姐姐在学画水彩画：she's been learning to paint watercolors.画水彩画或油画，英文叫做to paint，不用draw字；而水彩画或油画就叫oil painting或watercolor painting.She painted this oil （=oil painting） when she was nineteen即'这幅油画是她十九岁时画的'.素描叫做draw，I did a drawing of the windmill即'我画了一幅风车的素描画'.当然，无论是素描画、水彩画还是油画，都叫做picture.你可以paint a picture或draw a picture.希瑟说自己没有艺术才华: I have no artistic talent.这和I do not have any artistic talent有什么分别？No 和 not相比，是no的语气较强。强调的no一般用在名词或比较级形容词之前，例如：（1） We have no water（我们没有水）。（2） He is no richer than you are（他一点都不比你富有）。这两句，意思其实和We don't have any water 和He is not richer than you are 相同，只是语气重一点。希瑟用no而不用not，就是要强调自己一点艺术才华都没有。
