1. A Law
When it #es to a law, I'd like to say something about the law on the protection of the disabled. To be frank, I have no idea with the exact time when the law was promulgated. It's reported that there are about 6o million disabled people in China, which means nearly 5% of the whole population need special attention as the weak and disadvantaged. Although people with disabilities only make up five percent of the national population, the number of the jobless among handicapped people accounts for one-third of the total, adding that the living conditions are lower than the average levelof the total population. And this law is made to to help the country's handicapped population achieve the goal of "equality, participation and sharing" and to enjoy as affluent a life as others..Before the law was enacted, some disabled people became to be tramps even beggars after being abandoned by the families. But now, any ill-treatment or abandonment is strictly prohibited by the law. According to the law, both the national and local governments should give necessary subsidy to disabled people who really need help. The law on the protection of the handicapped brings a lot of benefit to the society.
